Parish Organizations at Holy Comforter
The Senior Choir
Holy Comforter has a wide range of parish ministries: organizations and activities that provide opportunites for spiritual growth, service to others, and fellowship. Come and join a group! Volunteer for a favorite activity!

Bill Schilling, Senior Warden
Vestry: Holy Comforter's “Board of Directors,” 12 lay members who govern the parish.
     Vestry members are elected to three years terms by the congregation at the annual meeting. Each member of Vestry acts as liaison to a ministery, committee, or organization of the church.
Vestry members also make announcements at the 10 o'clock service.

Holy Comforter Ministries
Youth Choir
Music Ministry
The Adult Choir - - The Adult Choir provides music for the 10 am worship service and special events throughout the year. Adult Choir meets for rehearsal on Thursday evenings at 7:30.
The Youth Choir - - The Youth Choir performs at holiday services and special events. The Youth Choir rehearses on Thursday evenings at 6 pm. The Youth Choir Advisor is Jim Gardner.

Ministry of Christian Education
Sunday School:
Under the direction of the Education Committee of the Vestry, this group of dedicated volunteers provides religious instruction for children according to age group.

Nursery- The Nursery is available from 9:45 am to 11:15am so that adults may attend the Sunday service. 
Children's Chapel-designed for children Pre-K through 3rd grade held in Sunday School room 3 during the first part of the 10 o'clock adult service. The children join the adult service for Communion. After the service, children go to Sunday School. 
Youth Group: Young parishioners (and their friends!) who meet regularly for discussion, spiritual growth, fellowship, and recreation.

Lay Ministries

Acolytes: Under the leadership of the Acolyte Master, Mike Armstrong, this dedicated group of young people serve at the altar during both services. They include the crucifer (cross-bearer), torchbearers, and servers who assist the priest with Holy Communion and other liturgical functions.






Layreaders and Chalice Bearers:
These nonordained men and women read scripture and lead prayers during worship. Click here for current schedule.

List of Greeter Assignments
Greeters: Holy Comforter wants visitors to feel welcome. Every Sunday, a pair of parishoners greet people as they enter the church for Sunday worship at the 10 am service.




Altar Guild:
This group maintains the altar and sets it up for services.
They also oversee the Columbarium and provide hospitality for funerals.

Service Organizations

B.A.D.B.O.Y.S. (Senior Men’s Group):
These retired men meet five or six times a year for breakfast. They perform a variety of services for the parish.





Daughters of the King:
A lay order for women who seek spiritual growth through prayer and service.



Brotherhood of St. Andrew: This organization of boys and young men provides service to the parish, such as serving as ushers during worship.






Missions Committee:
Each November, Holy Comforter holds a Christmas Bazaar to raise funds to support our missions.The committee selects local, nationwide, and international charities to receive financial support as part of Holy Comforter’s outreach to the community and the wider world.

Pastoral Care (formerly Outreach Committee): Dedicated volunteers bring meals and other services to the sick and shut-ins.
Women of Holy Comforter: Offers periodic meeting programs and raises funds for parish missions.

Scripture Study Groups: These informal groups provide opportunities for in-depth Bible study, meeting in private homes or the church.
Vestry Committees

Property Committee:
This committee is responsible for the maintenance and improvement of the church's physical plant and grounds. The Committee meets each month in the Parish Hall. Volunteers welcome.


The Property Committee sponsors the semi-annual CHAMPS Workday when the parish comes together for a special project. Parish members who notice something needing attention can add to the JobJar on the bulletin board in the parish hall.



Website Committee -- meets irregularly under the direction of Robert Hand.
